A Season for Tending by Cindy Woodsmall

I have really enjoyed reading her books and when I found out when this one would be available, I made sure to be able to read it.  A Season for Tending starts the story of Rhoda, Samuel, and Jacob.  Rhoda lives in an Amish community and is very good at growing things, so good that she has raised suspicion.  She also has a gift of sensing when things are wrong and that has made her a target of dislike. Samuel and his family work an apple orchard and are also Amish.  They are looking for new uses for their cider apples and through a set of circumstances team up with Rhoda to help sell their product. Twice a Bride By Mona Hodgson

I had read the other three books in the Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek and was eagerly awaiting the last book.  This book did not disappoint.  It continues with what is happening with the lives in the Sinclair sisters including a long awaited,  unexpected visit from their father.  It also continues the story of Willow, the sister-in-law to one of the Sinclair sisters and Hattie their former landlady at the boarding house.  Both are widows and not expecting a second chance at love, but....   I was disappointed for the series to come to an end and will be eagerly looking for the new series. Be Still My Soul by Joanne Bischof

This book tells the story of the first year of marriage of Gabe and Lonnie.   She does not really have good male role models and her father forces her to marry Gabe and she complies.  Soon after they marry they leave his family and travel toward a town where he thinks there are jobs.  They do not make it there, but instead begin living with a couple Jebediah and Elise who teach Gabe how to really treat Lonnie.  The book tells of their struggles as they learn to be a couple. http://www.joannebischof.com/   more from the author can be found here. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

It took me a bit to finish this book, but it was very enlightening.  It chronicles the story of Louis Zamperini.  It tells of his life before WW2 and then how he survives a plane crash and time in the Japanese POW camp.  It then continues with his life after the war and how he managed to get back to life as normal. The Bride Wore Blue by Mona Hodgson

This is book three in the Sinclair Sisters Series.  I was looking forward to reading book three and it did not disappoint.   The fourth Sinclair Sister has made it to Cripple Creek and is determined to earn her own way.  On the way to the town, she encounters bandits on the train and through out the book it tells of her other encounters and her dealings with the sheriff that start out over the robbery, but advance with some matchmaking.  "I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review."
