The Heart of a Cowboy by Jody Hedlund

Linnea is traveling out west with a group of scientists that includes her grandfather. He is concerned for her safety and convinces another of the traveling groups to join up with their group to help keep an eye on her. Along the way, Linnea begins to fall in love with Flynn and grows close to his brother and sister. They encounter much along the way including outlaws, the elements, and it seems from within. Flynn is more concerned with getting his brother’s cattle to him safely to prove he is worth something. He decides to take Linnea’s grandfather up on his offer so he can have a better start once he gets the cattle to his brother Wyatt. He soon finds himself falling for Linnea, but cannot bring himself to act on it due to previous family circumstances. I really enjoyed reading and listening to this story and hope there is more to the story of the McQuaid family.

A Christmas in the Alps: A Christmas by Melody Carlson

Simone decides to visit her great-grandmother and overcomes her fear of flying to do so.  While traveling she meets Kyle and finds herself meeting up with him again while in Paris and the French Alps.  They work together to uncover family secrets and treasures. A great happy read that puts you in the mind for Christmas.   I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

The Secret Keepers of the old Depot Grocery by Amanda Cox

This was an interesting story that went back and forth between present day and the past of 1965.  It goes between family dynamics, secrets of the past, and tragedies of the present.  Sarah returns to her childhood home but finds that things are not as expected.  The family is planning to close the grocery story that they has been in their family for decades.  Sarah cannot figure out the reason for the closing or why they don't want her to revive the family business.  A great story of forgiveness and family. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

A Midnight Dance by Joanna Davidson Politano

Ella is trying to figure out what she wants.  She is trying to find her way in the dance company she is a part of while avoiding the romances that are going on in the theater.  She wants to continue to dance, but feels pressure from some of the other members of the dance company.  She feels like she wants to do one thing while life seems to be going in another direction.  A great read with a mix of mystery and romance. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

The Healing of Natalie Curtis by Jane Kirkpatrick

I enjoy reading books that are based on true stories.  Natalie Curtis makes it her mission to record the songs of the native people out west and to stop the disappearance of this information.  She has gone out west to heal and finds healing through the songs of the Native Americans.   I really enjoyed learning about this time in history and how she interacted with the people out west and made it her mission to help save their culture and the future of their culture as they assimilate into the ways of the new US. I received a copy of the book to read, the review is mine.
