A Quilt for Christmas: A Christmas Novella by Melody Carlson

I really enjoyed this heartwarming story.  Fiona is determined to get her mom a quilt for Christmas and soon enlists the help of her neighbor to make it happen. Vera is new to the neighborhood but soon finds herself enlisting the help of others to make Fiona’s wish come true.  I really enjoyed reading how the neighbors and friends came together to make it all happen.

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick

Mollie has done her best to be a dutiful daughter, but soon finds herself wanting more.  She has spent so much of her life doing everything her father wanted her to that when she finally gets a chance to do something she wants to do, her plans don’t go as she wishes.  She has fallen in love, but her father does not want to lose her and does all he can to keep them apart.  I really enjoyed reading the story of her perseverance and how Mollie learned to come into her own.

Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin

I really enjoyed the story of Liliana and Meric.  Liliana has taken back her life and now is ready to move forward.  She cannot do this without the help of Meric who has agreed to marry her.  They run into many obstacles due to the circumstances of their meeting. A great thriller that kept you guessing.

A Gem of Truth by Kimberley Woodhouse

I find the idea of the Harvey Girls something very interesting.  I can just imagine all the people they met and the exciting things they ran across.  Julia has the opportunity to become a Harvey Girl at the El Tovar Hotel and it gives her real insight into others and herself. While there she meets Christopher and they soon become good friends and more.  But as time goes on and he learns more about her, he has to look hard to see who she really is.  I really liked this story and learning about the time period.  Look forward to the next one.
