The Secret Keepers of the old Depot Grocery by Amanda Cox

This was an interesting story that went back and forth between present day and the past of 1965.  It goes between family dynamics, secrets of the past, and tragedies of the present.  Sarah returns to her childhood home but finds that things are not as expected.  The family is planning to close the grocery story that they has been in their family for decades.  Sarah cannot figure out the reason for the closing or why they don't want her to revive the family business.  A great story of forgiveness and family. Lanterns, Lakes, & Larceny by Tonya Kappes

I love Mae and the Laundry Ladies and their adventures in Normal, KY.  Mae has found herself in another case with a dead body.  Hank drags her into a case along with private eye Jerry.  Mae feels like it is a win win because she gets to hang out again with Hank and solve a good mystery, what is there not to love.  Well maybe the danger she finds herself in again could be less, but then it would not be a Mae West type of mystery.

Under the Bayou Moon by Valerie Fraser Luesse

I thought this would be an interesting read as I am from the South and could picture the locations of the book.  I can't imagine traveling from home to a small town as Ellie did and trying to fit in with the community that she becomes a teacher in.  She soon wins over many in the town as the come to see her not as a threat, but as someone to learn from.  She also learns about their culture as well and soon teams up with one of the townspeople as they try to save the white gator. I received a copy of the book to read the review is mine.

Love this series and would love to try some of the sweets that they ...

I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Along a Storied Trail by Ann Gabhart

I have always found it interesting learning about the librarians that went out on horseback and other means to take books to those who could not come and get them.  It would be an interesting job to have as you would get to go and see all the neighbors, although the travel might be a bit much.  Tansy Calhoun has such a job and while delivering her books often has time to daydream and one day thinks that her dreams have come true as a new man comes to town.  She has to decide though what is best, what her heart, or head (and others) think as she continues down her path. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Fronds and Enemies: English Cottage Garden Mysteries by H Y Hanna

I love reading about Poppy and her trials of getting her garden to grow.  On top of killing plants, she finds herself in the middle of another murder.  As she goes about trying to find out exactly what has happened, she runs across some interesting characters as well as ones we are familiar with.  I love seeing what Oren is up to and how he wants everything "now"  He would be a fun cat to have, even if he is a bit naughty at times.  I can't wait to see what everyone will be up to next, especially as Poppy continues to run the nursery and find out more about her family. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Another great story with Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies.  They are out to find out the real story of Alicia and Craig.  Did she kill him, or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time?  I love reading how Mae and her friends go about finding out who did it all the while "staying out of trouble."  A great continuation of the story of Normal, KY. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Miriam's Song by Jill Eileen Smith

A story of hope and leadership.  Miriam's Song  tells the story of Miriam and how she stepped up to lead her family and overcome obstacles.  It is a well written book and really gives insight into her life and what she had to do to be the person she was.  It really gives you insight into how to live you life with the purpose you are given.  I was given a copy to read, the review is mine.

Unknown Threat by Lynn Blackburn

In Unknown Threat the agents have to learn to trust each other.  They have knowledge of each other and am unsure just how much to trust each other.  It would be hard to have to do this when you have previous knowledge but have to learn to work together anyway as Luke and Faith have to do. A very suspenseful read as you begin to wonder exactly what has been going on and what will happen next.

Dreams Rekindled by Amanda Cabot

It is always interesting to read about how life was in the past.  Dorothy want to do more to get herself and her writing out there but due to the town she lives in that is just not possible.  I like seeing how she was able to take advantage of an opportunity she was given and was able to come together with Brandon to make sure that both of their new opportunities were able to continue.   An enjoyable read that lets you think.

Paddlers, Promises & Poison: A Camper and Criminals by Tonya Kappes

Another great story from Normal, Kentucky.  Mae has found herself in another quandary.  Another body has been found an of course Mae and her Laundry Club Ladies are in the thick of things.  I love seeing how Mae gets herself into things, but this time she is wondering just how much to get involved as her boyfriend Hank needs to prove himself to the Sheriff's department.  I liked seeing how she was able to get involved while staying out of it.      I received a copy to read, the review is mine

A fun read with a bit of mystery and some intrigue and murder.  A new business is opening in town and everyone is hoping for a good opening review. When Twilight Breaks by Sarah Sundin

When Twilight Breaks takes place in 1938.  It was interesting to read from the perspective of right before the war, knowing what would later take place.  The two main characters are Americans in Germany right before the start of WW2.  They both find themselves in a position to show what is going on in the countries to those outside of Germany.  I really enjoy getting to see history for this perspective.       I received a copy of the book, the review is mine.

A Dance in Donegal by Jennifer Deibel

I felt like I was on the journey with Moira as she travels to Ireland to become a teacher in her mother's homeland.  As she gets there, she faces many new idea and customs.  Many are very welcoming to her and others hold strong to superstitions and the past.  I would hard enough to give up all and travel to a new country, but to face what Moira had to would make it even more daunting.  I was glad that she was able to find others along the way to help her on her new journey.      I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

The Moonlight School by Suzanne Woods Fisher

It was fascinating to learn about the Moonlight School as the book was based on actual events.   Lucy, Cora, and Wyatt work to try to help the adults in the area to learn how to read.  They are hired to educate the children, but  realize that there is also a need to help the adults as well.  Lucy sees the need and finds a greater purpose at the same time.  I can relate to how hard it can be to overcome all that can go against you and to accept what is offered.      I received a  copy to read, the review is mine.

Tidewater Bride by Laura Frantz

I really enjoyed reading the book and seeing it in the historical context.  Selah has gone against convention not wanting to marry but instead wants to continue working with her father.  She also decides instead of finding a suitor for herself, she will work with the incoming brides to help them match up suitable.  Along the ways she begins to interact with Xander and the soon become more committed to each other than either though was possible. Minutes to Die by Susan Sleeman

A great read and loved seeing how the agents were able to interact and get past previous incidents to get the job done.  Evan did the best he could when he and another agent out on a call , but it did not turn out well for the other agent.  Now he is working with the partner of the agent on another case and they both have to get past the past to stop the terrorists.      This book really keeps you wanting to know what will happen next and how the agents will handle it.  It gets even more personal as they have to not only worry about the general public, but close family members as well,   I got this as an audio book and enjoyed the narrator as well.
