Blooper Freak (The Worst Detective Ever Book 5) by Christy Barritt

Poor Joey, just when she thinks that things are going to be normal, her friend is accused of murder.  She realizes that she needs to do what she can to help him, but it might come at a cost with her boyfriend as he does not want her to get involved.  As Joey bumbles on, she finds herself involved in more than she bargained for.  I really enjoy seeing how Joey manages to keep finding herself involved in things as she tries to stay out of it, but instead just finds herself deeper and deeper involved.

Rescued Hearts by Hope Toler Dougherty

Anytime I see a cat on the cover, I have to read the book description to find out what it is all about.  The cover of this book drew me in, but the writing kept me there.  I really enjoyed reading this book and the dilemmas that the characters found themselves in.      Mary Wade can't help herself when she spots a helpless kitten, but she had not idea what would happen next.  She soon finds herself in a situation where she herself needs rescuing.  A great read, that keeps you reading to find out what will happen next,      I received a copy of the book from the publisher, the review is entirely my own. Another One Bites the Crust by H. Y. Hanna

I have been not so patiently waiting for the next installment of this series and loved it.  I  love seeing how Gemma keeps getting mixed up in murders and the Old Biddies crack me up every time with their involvement.  Poor Gemma not only has to try to figure out what happened to the chef, but also had to tend with her nutty mom and a visit from Devlin's mom as well, what else could happen.    I also love seeing what Muesli has been up to as the cat on the cover is what drew me to the series in the first place.  This is such a fun series as I often catch myself laughing out loud at the antics of Muesli, the Old Biddies, and have to wonder what Gemma's mom will try to give her next.     I received a copy from the author, the review is my own.

A Cajun Christmas Killing by Ellen Byron

I enjoyed this mystery that had a bit of southern and Cajun charm to it.  Maggie is tasked with finding out who killed Donald Baxter and as her family and boyfriend are the main suspects, it becomes very important for it to get figured out sooner than later.  Especially with Christmas and all of its traditions coming up.  I also really enjoyed how I could see certain places as they were described and enjoyed having the recipes so I could try them out.

Cherished Mercy by Tracie Peterson

Mercy  is doing what she can to survive in Oregon Territory, but soon feels that she must move on.  I felt that she was very brave to take on what she did as she goes to help a friend.  She has to take on the unknown, but feels that it is better than what she is leaving behind.  She must rely on friends and her faith to survive it all.      I received a copy of this book from the publisher, the review is my own.

Crisis Shot by Janice Cantore

Tess O'Rourke is trying to become the best female chief she can, but that all changes one night with the shooting of an unarmed teenager.  She finds herself looking for a new start and finds it in rouge's Hollow.  While there the cousin of a close friend goes missing and she must depend on the help of Deputy Steve Logan to help her track down a murderer.      I liked how Tess realized that she needed a new start and made it happen.  She has to work hard not only at her job, but at getting accepted, but she preservers on. I enjoyed seeing how she was able to open up and work with Steve, not only on the case, but allowing him in her personal life as well.      I received a copy of this book from the publisher, the review is entirely my own.

Bringing Maggie Home by Kim Vogel Sawyer

I really enjoyed reading this book and it was a story of generations and understanding.  Hazel is very watchful of her family after her sister disappears.  Her daughter resents her for it, while her granddaughter loves her for it.  I really got in to it as the family had to come together and really talk things out and just maybe come back together.     More from the autho r "I received this book from  Blogging for Books  , the review is entirely my own"
