Stealing Jake by Pam Hillman

Livy observes a street boy acting as a  pickpocket.  She realizes what he is doing since she used to be one herself.  She now runs an orphanage to help others who are like she was and goes after the boy.   Jake Russell is a sheriff's deputy who meets Livy while going after a thief.  He doesn't feel like he has time to spend on a romance, but still feels drawn to Livy.
I like reading historical fiction and this one was a good read.  I liked seeing how Livy not only worked at turning her own life around, but wanted to do the same for others.  By being in the same situation, she could identify with those she helped.
